A clear description of services
A good quote names the issuer and recipient, a date and a unique quote number. At its core is a precise description of the service with quantity, unit and unit price — so the customer knows exactly what they get for which price.
Binding period
State the validity period
A "valid until" date defines how long your prices and terms are binding. 14 or 30 days are common. It protects you from later price discussions and gives the customer a clear decision window.
Transparent amounts
Net, VAT and gross
VAT-registered businesses show the net total, the tax rate (20%, 13% or 10%) and the gross amount so the final price is clear. Kleinunternehmer calculate without VAT and add the note about the tax exemption.

What should an Austrian quote contain? +
A quote (Angebot) is regulated more loosely than an invoice. It still makes sense to include: name and address of issuer and recipient, a quote date, a unique quote number, a clear description of the service with quantity and unit price, the net total, the tax rate, the gross amount and the validity period. Clear figures prevent misunderstandings and make the later invoice easier.

How long is a quote valid? +
You set the validity period yourself — 14 or 30 days are common. A "valid until" date tells the customer how long the quoted prices and terms are binding. Without a deadline, the statutory binding period under the Austrian Civil Code (ABGB) applies in case of doubt.
